DLBA has an immediate position available for a SENIOR MECHANICAL (MARINE) ENGINEER.

We are seeking an energetic, well-qualified individual for a position as a Senior Mechanical (Marine) Engineer, based out of our Chesapeake, VA office. The Senior Marine Engineer will report to the Engineering Director. Duties include design of, and changes to, shipboard systems, including main and auxiliary propulsion, fuel oil and lubricating oil systems, seawater and fresh water systems, and heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.

education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering from an accredited institution with appropriate continuing education. Should hold a Professional Engineer's license in Virginia or be an Engineer-in-Training working toward accreditation.

experience

Ten or more years experience required so that competence as a fully trained worker is apparent. (Knowledge of Classification Society Rules is a plus)

Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria for design and modification of boats and craft. Is a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of marine vessel design. Work may require a broad knowledge of precedents in marine engineering and an in-depth knowledge of principles and practices of related technologies. Works independently and/or as a team member to develop complete design definition.
