DLBA has recently hired two new full-time employees, Lee Clarke and Brad Gelles.
Lee grew up in the Hampton Roads area and graduated in June 2010 from Old Dominion University.
He began working at DLBA as a Co-op intern during the senior year of his studies. His education
in Mechanical Engineering combined with associate studies in Mechanical Drafting and Design and
minor studies in Engineering Management are exercised in research, development, design, and
engineering of small and large yachts, commercial, and military vessels.
Bradley interned with DLBA for two years during his time off between semesters at The Webb Institute prior to graduating in
June 2010. After he received his degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, he moved to Virginia Beach and is now a full-time
employee. Bradley is well versed in the naval architecture
aspects of a wide range of vessels, has a working knowledge of CAD software and computer programming, and is an
experienced and skilled boat operator. Bradley has passed the F.E. exam and is working toward his P.E. license.
DLBA recently teamed with MGH and Associates to sponsor a reception at the National Shipbuilding
Research Program (NSRP) crosscut panel meeting at Old Dominion University. At these meetings, the panel ensures that
technologies implemented from the NSRP and its projects consider the required supporting areas of education, training,
tech-transfer, organizational change, and human resources.
Amy Moses, our in-house interior designer recently became a LEED Green Associate, and is now certified in green design.
Engineering Director Jim Supan and Engineering Project Manager Chris Swanhart recently completed courses from the Project
Management Institute (PMI) and earned certifications as Project Management Professionals. The PMI's Project Management
Professional (PMP) credential is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers, demonstrating
that those certified have the experience, education and competency to successfully lead and direct projects. As PMP
credential holders, Chris and Jim will continue to acquire 60 PDUs per three-year cycle to maintain their certification.
Project Engineer James McGrath was married on June 19, 2010.
Interior Designer Amy Moses is engaged to be married on New Years day, 2011.
