my boat is very wet. spray is higher than the deck sheer at high speeds, the cockpit and wind screen are wet. the boat is especially wet with wind direction from the forward quarter and beam. is there anything which can be done to improve this situation; that is, can the boat be changed to make it drier?
This is a tough question as a boat operated in an overloaded condition and especially with a forward LCG will be wet. You might contact the boat builder to seek the design weight and LCG for your boat. Upon getting that information, remove gear and anything possible to restore the boat to it's design weight and LCG. Operate the boat in this condition and observe wetness/dryness. If the boat is dry, then the wetness condition may be due to the operator's inattention to weight management.
If the wetness condition remains, it is most likely that a design professional needs to study the boat out of the water to make geometric measurements and observe local keel and chine details in order to make suggestions for detail improvements and/or the addition of flow separators. In as much as local hull line details can be the source of spray, not all wetness problems can be completely eliminated on an existing boat.
